Putting their books and research papers aside for real world experience, PPL welcomes 27 students to the summer Intern/Cooperative Associate Education program.
This year brings an impressive group of interns with an average GPA of 3.63, along with involvement in clubs, organizations and leadership roles. The students bring to PPL a unique set of skills and experiences from 15 different colleges and universities and the most diverse mix of backgrounds in the history of the program.
PPL’s Intern/Co-op Program offers a challenging work experience that many students seek to build an impressive college portfolio and prepare them for post-college job opportunities.
The internship program is also an opportunity for PPL to grow its own future leaders. Joanne Raphael, senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, and Dave Bonenberger, vice president – distribution operations also spoke with the group about the opportunity and leadership skills that an internship at PPL provides.
“The internship program at PPL is an excellent avenue for diversifying the workforce,” said Brian Case, manager – Human Resources Corporate Services. “The students bring a fresh perspective to our culture and business and give us an opportunity to evaluate potential career employees.”
Each student will complete work in their specific field of study, giving them a sense of ownership while providing PPL with the means to accomplish important tasks. The students will also complete a community service project during their internship.
PPL has a successful and nationally recognized Intern/Co-op Program and was a winner of the 2013 Employer’s Choice Award through NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers).It has also been featured on the websites of nationally recognized universities, such as Lehigh University and Penn State University.
