The Center for Prevention and Outreach (CPO) offers undergraduates the opportunity to participate in a year-long, 6 credit (3 per semester) internship. Interns help create programming and strategies to improve outreach and raise awareness on a variety of issues. Interns choose one of four possible internship tracks: Gender Identity and Sexuality, Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD), Sexual and Relationship Violence Prevention, or Mental and Emotional Health and Wellness. CPO interns work collaboratively on a variety of projects illustrating the overlap of all of our topic areas, but focuses on a particular area as a specialization.

Interns are required to accumulate 120 hours of service (10 hours per week), and to participate in a variety of prevention and outreach activities. This internship is applicable for students interested in pursuing careers in counseling, psychology, social work, law and public policy, social justice, media and cultural studies, women’s and gender studies, and numerous other fields. Students taking classes in women’s and gender studies, psychology, sociology, anthropology, cultural and cinema studies, political science, and the health sciences are all encouraged to apply.

DEADLINES

All applications received before May 1st will be considered however interviews will begin on a rolling basis on April 28th.

Applications received after May 1st will only be considered as space allows.
