What You Can Expect

The 10-week summer internship program presents an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to PNC’s businesses and culture. As an intern, you will be placed within one of our business areas where you will have the chance to develop knowledge and key skills necessary to succeed, as well as grow professionally through:

Learning Opportunities
Online and in-person training that supports new learning, strengthens your core skill sets and provides you with a solid foundation for your internship.

Exposure to Our Business
Gain extensive exposure to the specific area of business where you are placed and how various business areas interact across the bank.

Mentorship
Each intern is assigned a Peer Mentor to provide insight into transitioning from college into a professional workplace, career paths and guidance on navigating the organization.

Performance Coaching
Regular evaluations are conducted by your manager in order to communicate progress, identify strengths, note opportunities for improvement and talk through feedback and any potential next steps.

Speaker Series
The speaker series has events periodically throughout the internship to allow interns to hear from senior representatives discussing topics like innovation in banking, benefits and money management.

Summer Summit
A two-day event at our Pittsburgh headquarters that brings all interns from across our markets together. Interns will hear from PNC’s leadership team, make connections with other interns and participate in development activities.

Internships Programs

Asset Management Group

Asset Management Group (AMG) is comprised of Institutional Asset Management, Wealth Management and Hawthorn. We work with individual and corporate clients who have significant assets to develop sophisticated, customized financial solutions ranging from investment management and wealth planning to trust administration and private foundation management.

Locations: Across PNC’s markets including but not limited to the Midwest, Northeast and Southeast.
Preferred area(s) of study: Business, Economics, Finance, Marketing

Corporate & Institutional Banking

Corporate & Institutional Banking (C&IB) provides financial services for companies, higher education institutions and government agencies. We recruit interns into three separate tracks – Corporate/Treasury Management, Capital Markets and Real Estate.

Locations: Across PNC’s markets, but not all tracks are available in all markets.
Preferred area(s) of study: Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Mathematics

Finance & Accounting

Finance & Accounting is comprised of various departments that work collaboratively to prepare and analyze financial statements, forecasts and budgets; to provide comprehensive reporting tools; and to implement and manage control functions. We exceed our stakeholders’ expectations in support of corporate goals and objectives.

Human Resources

Human Resources (HR) provides expertise to business leaders and employees. From recruiting talented individuals to providing learning and development, to ensuring effective pay strategies, HR helps the company deliver exceptional results through our best asset – people.

Independent Risk Management

Independent Risk Management: A commitment to risk management is one way that PNC brings value and innovation to our shareholders and customers. Our Independent Risk Management team’s ability to identify, assess, prioritize and minimize risks contributed to our resilience during the financial crisis.

Internal Audit

Internal Audit provides independent, pragmatic insight to ensure the performance of PNC’s internal control systems. Our goals are to manage risk, provide opportunities for corporate and shareholder growth, and achieve the highest level of customer service.

Locations: Pittsburgh, PA; Cleveland, OH; Downers Grove, IL; Raleigh, NC

Operations

Operations provides a back-office view of PNC’s retail and lending processes and procedures. This team is responsible for leading process change across the bank.

Preferred area(s) of study: Computer Science, Engineering, General Business Management, Logistics, Operations Management or Production Management

Quantitative

Analytics & Portfolio Management (APM) is a group that’s seen tremendous growth recently with PNC’s increased sophistication in modeling and analytics and not only is responsible for loss forecasting and aggregation but also acts as a trusted partner to PNC’s lending and credit functions.

Locations: Pittsburgh, PA or Washington, D.C.
Preferred area(s) of study: Actuarial Science, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Technology or other related fields

Retail Banking

Retail Banking encompasses the many ways that we interact with consumers, small businesses and the communities we serve. This business provides deposit, lending, cash management, savings and investment services to millions of consumer and small business customers through an extensive branch network, care (call) center and online resources. We recruit interns in two tracks – the Retail track (Consumer Banking or Business Banking) or within our Customer Care Center.

Preferred area(s) of study: Business Management, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Communication, Business Administration or related major

Technology
