Program Objective: Opportunity for undergraduate level university students to gain valuable hands on experience, and potentially fulfil college requirements at the same time. IKEA benefits by identifying and developing potential young talents for future careers at IKEA while support the running business and contributing toward strategic and tactical projects that will further develop its Supply Chain performance, and future network.

Positions Available: 2 internship positions will be available
40 hour week (Monday – Friday)
$15.00/hour

Student Profile:
Completion of basic University courses in Logistics, Supply Chain or Business/Economics with a minimum GPA 3.0 in core curriculum
Preferred to entering into Junior/Senior year of his/her studies
Strives to obtain a position working in Supply Chain after graduation
Good presentation and communication skills both in written and verbal
Computer skills and can demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Self-reliant, motivated and resilient with ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
Problem solver as well as working with set deadlines

Program Structure: Program will run 12 to 14 weeks (May – August). Begin and end date is flexible to work around Students end and start of their Schooling.

Tentative program itinerary:
Week 1
Student Intern will participate in IKEA introduction program and be given a high level overview of IKEA Global Supply Chain structure, Distribution Operations, Logistic and Network Planning.

Weeks 2 – 3
Student Intern will ‘shadow’ co-workers and managers in their daily task with the objective to achieve a deeper understanding of IKEA.

Weeks 4 – 12/14
Student Intern will be assigned to work in an entry level position within the Distribution Services groups
Student intern will be assigned a special project or assigned to running projects that contribute to future/current business needs related to the department the intern has been assigned.
Time to complete their project will be allocated during this period.

Intern will be assigned a mentor who will meet bi-weekly to review learning, coach and prepare final performance summary
