Internships Opportunities for Undergrads and Graduate Students

As you enter your junior or senior year of college, are you ready for your next challenge?
A paid, summer internship with Farmers offers you career-building experience with an industry-leader and a growing brand. You’ll handle real projects and start building your resume with solid credentials. You will also receive feedback from an assigned mentor who works with you to enhance your development. These full-time opportunities are available anytime from May to Septemberfooter note* and include placement anywhere in the United States. And, did we mention you get paid?

Farmers is looking for good communicators who are responsive and self-motivated and who embrace problem-solving and effective time management. Candidates should also have a GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale or 4.0 or better on a 5.0 scale.

Farmers interns have many opportunities to be hired for full-time positions after they have completed the summer program.

Who we’re looking for:

We want undergraduates who’ve completed their sophomore or junior year and graduate students.
Students majoring in any business discipline, math or information systems are encouraged to apply
Ideal candidates will possess strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Spend eight to ten week during the summer:

Planned events & activites

Farmers Interns participate in a well-developed series of lunch and learns designed to maximize and personalize the learning opportunities for each intern. These workshops include resume preparation and effective job searching; maximizing networking opportunities; and meeting with influential leaders at Farmers.
We realize that much learning and networking takes place away from the office setting, so we have a committee dedicated to organizing fun social events for our interns located in the Los Angeles area. These social activities will vary from year–to-year. Previously, they included trips to local museums, attending Dodger, Angel and Sparks home games, bowling and billiards, and evening intern mixers at local restaurants.

How do I apply?

What is the application deadline?

Which majors are eligible to apply?

Within our regional locations, we generally recruit business and quantitative majors, including finance, economics, management, accounting, marketing, mathematics, risk management, insurance, information science or related fields.

Where do FARMERS interns work?

Farmers offers internships at our corporate headquarters in Los Angeles, CA and internships at locations across the country.

Which department will I work in?

At our Los Angeles corporate office, interns work in a variety of departments including Accounting, Actuary, Finance, Advertising & Media, Business Insurance, Communications, Marketing, Underwriting, Risk Management, Personal Lines, Regulatory Affairs, and Information Technology. Interns in other locations (DE, IN, MI, and TX) are exposed to a variety of business operations including Actuary, Claims and Marketing.

What can you tell me about the hiring process?

The first step is to submit an online application; once it is received, our team will review your information. First round interviews are typically conducted over the phone or in-person with one of our recruiters. After further evaluation, some candidates may be invited for on-site interviews. Once you apply, we can provide more specific details.

Is there a GPA requirement to be an intern at FARMERS?

Yes, we require at least a 3.0 overall GPA.

I’m a freshman (or sophomore) am I eligible to apply?

Our internships require skills and knowledge typically acquired after completing several “in major” courses. Therefore, we tend to hire rising juniors and rising seniors (those students who have already completed their sophomore and/or junior year) along with current students pursuing a Masters in related field.

I’m an international student, am I eligible to apply?

Legal U.S. work authorization is required.

Does FARMERS offer paid internships?

Yes, Farmers internships are paid. Interns receive an hourly wage that is competitive for our industry and geographic locations.

How many hours per week will I work?

Interns work our standard work week, 40 hours per week. Most interns work Monday through Friday, however, some schedules may vary based on business needs.

Will FARMERS pay for housing?

We do not offer a housing allowance.

Can I receive college credit for being an intern at FARMERS?

Students interested in receiving college credit for their internship experience will need to check with their university and/or advisor regarding requirements. Please discuss necessary requirements with your Farmers internship recruiter. We will do our best to work with you!
